Every registered domain has a minimum of 2 Name Server records that show where it is hosted i.e. by using these records you direct your Internet domain to the servers of a particular web hosting company. In this way, you've got both your website and your emails handled by the same service provider. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), however, there are a number of other records, such as A and MX. The first one shows which server deals with the site for a given domain address and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the second one indicates which server deals with the emails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). For example, whenever you enter a domain in your web browser, your request is sent through the global DNS system to the provider whose NS records the domain uses and from there you could be forwarded to the servers of a different service provider provided you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your domain address. Having different records for the site and the e-mails suggests that you could have your site and your emails with 2 different companies if you wish.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Website Hosting

If you have a cloud website hosting account with our company and you wish to switch either your site or your emails to an alternative company, it will take you literally simply 2 clicks to do so. Our Hepsia CP comes with an easy-to-use DNS Records tool, where all your domain names and subdomains are going to be listed alphabetically and you are going to be able to see and modify the A and/or MX records for any of them. If you want to use a different e-mail provider and they ask you to create more MX records than the standard 2, it won't take more than a few mouse clicks either to add them. You can also set different latency for these records and the lower the latency, the higher the priority a given MX record is going to have. The propagation of each record that you change or create is not going to take more than a few hours and if necessary, you'll also be able to set the so-called Time-To-Live value, which indicates how long a record will remain active after it's changed or deleted.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

Accessing and editing the A or MX records for each of your domain addresses or subdomains is really easy if you acquire a semi-dedicated server plan from our company. The accounts are managed via our in-house built Hepsia CP, which includes a section dedicated to the DNS records of your domain names. The latter will be listed alphabetically and you could click on any of them to see both the A and the MX records. Changing any record is as easy as typing in the new one in a text box and saving the change, so even though you may have never dealt with such matters before, you simply won't experience any troubles if you decide to point your site or e-mails to another company while keeping the second service with our company. If required, you may also set up additional MX records and set a certain priority in accordance with the instructions of the new provider.
